On discord most of the people have seen a moon like icon on their status. What does it mean?
What ‘idle’ means in Discord?
After a period of inactivity on the computer, Discord will automatically set your status to idle. You can also manually set your status if you wish. As for what the idle status means, it is typically interpreted as you are away or do not intend to use discord even if you are at your computer. I generally set my status to idle to tell anyone who might want to talk to me that I am not available to talk or I am busy doing other things online and will not be looking at my Discord.
In other way you can say that after a user has been inactive for around 5 minutes, Discord will automatically set the users status to Idle which means that the user hasn’t used Discord for a while and might be busy or AFK (Away From Keyboard).
Someone can also set their own status as Idle but you might wonder why not just go offline. Well offline usually states that you’re done for the day while idle means you’re just away from your PC busy doing something else. So other people will know that if they message you, you’ll reply when you’re there and they won’t have to wait for a really long time.
How you can manually set your status to Idle
- Open Discord and log in to your account if prompted.
- In the bottom left corner of your screen, click on your profile picture.
- A small menu will appear, listing various user statuses. Click on “Idle.”
- Now, your user status will appear as idle automatically, even if you’re currently active on Discord.
That is all you need to do.
